I support an indigenous voice to parliament as common sense and a unifying step towards reconciliation. I also acknowledge the traditional owners of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities that were never ceded. I pay my respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultures; and to elders, both past and present.
I would further support genuine reconciliation in more than words and beyond a voice to parliament, through the proposal of a 0.25 of one per cent tax in perpetuity, as compensation to first nations people, charged on all unencumbered land sales and all mineral sales taken from this continent, as a reparative payment for land taken illegally from its rightful owners.
